DIY: Burlap Football Wreath

Tuesday, September 29, 2015

Football season is upon us and that calls for festive decorations. Even if you are not much of a do-it-yourselfer, this door wreath/hanger is super easy and doesn't call for much supplies. You can make your's for any team and dress it up as much as you want. If you are a house divided or want to support both a college team & NFL team, you could make it double sided with both teams represented. The possibilities really are endless!

Let's get started!

What You Need
Burlap
Chalk
Poster board
Sizzors
Paint & paint brushes
Stapler
Ribbon
Plastic bags

Step 1: Make a football using your poster board. Trace it onto the burlap using chalk and then cut the football out.

Step 2: Using the chalk, sketch out your design. If you mess up, use your hand or a wet rag to erase the chalk.

Step 3: Paint over the chalk. Make sure to put something under the burlap so the paint doesn't leak through. Let the paint completely dry before continuing.

Step 4: Next, overlap the two footballs. Measure out the ribbon and staple it onto the inside of the bottom (unpainted) football.

Step 5: It should look like this.

Step 6: Staple around the football, leaving some space to put the bag in.

Step 7: Stuff the plastic bags into the football, making sure to spread it out inside.

Step 8: Finish stapling, until the football is completely closed.

Step 9: Ta-da! Now hang on your door for everyone to see!
