Mountain Weekend!

Happy Friday! It's finally starting to feel like Fall here in Atlanta and I am so happy about it. I am sick of this hot weather...if I can't wear jeans and boots soon, I just might die of heat exhaustion trying. Luckily for me, I headed up to the Blue Ridge mountains yesterday and am now relaxing in cooler weather! What a relief! The whole family and I are up here celebrating my Grandpa's 94th birthday. Can you believe it?! 94 years old! I hope you all have fun plans for the weekend! See ya Monday!

Product Review: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara vs Benefit Roller Lash

Pros: 
- No clumping
- Gives you longer lashes
Cons: 
- Doesn't make lashes full

Conclusion: Benefit Roller Lash is a great mascara for women going for the no-makeup make up. It makes your lashes longer and a little more noticeable, but doesn't add any fullness. I personally love (& need) fullness, so this mascara didn't work for me. 

Pros: 
- Gives you fuller lashes
- Gives you longer lashes 
- Continues to give volume after more layers are added
Cons: 
- Does slightly clump

Conclusion: After using this mascara for a while, I've come to the conclusion that I love it! It gives my lashes the fullness they need without having to apply that much. It can clump up a little, so I would recommend buying a disposable mascara wand to brush out those clumps. 

I actually really like to use the Roller Lash and the Better Than Sex mascara together. First I put on the Better Than Sex mascara and then I smooth it out with the Roller Lash. They really work together perfectly

Sausage, Kale & Polenta Skillet

serves 4

What You Need
1 TBS olive oil
12 oz sweet Italian sausage, casings removed
9 oz prepared polenta, cut into 9 slices
8 oz kale, chopped
2 TBS water
1/2 TSP ground pepper
2 cups marinara sauce
Mozzarella, for topping

Directions 
1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium/high heat. Once oil is warm, add sausages and cook until no longer pink, about 5-10 minutes. You can either cook whole and then cut up or crumble them as you cook. Once sausage is cooked, remove from skillet.
2. Spread out polenta on the skillet and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat, flipping halfway through. Remove from skillet and set aside. 
3. Preheat your oven's broiler.
4. Over medium heat, add the chopped kale and 2 TBS of water to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until completely wilted. 
5. Next, stir the sausage and marinara back into the skillet with the kale. Top dish with polenta and then mozzarella cheese. Broil for 2 minutes and then serve!

Hello Fall!!

It's the first official weekend of Fall!! My favorite time of the whole year is finally here! I can't wait for the temperature to finally drop so I can wear some boots, have a fire, and go pick out the perfect pumpkin. This was a busy and long week for me, so I couldn't be happier to see Friday. Time to relax and enjoy some non-work time! This weekend I plan on seeing Sully and exploring more of Atlanta. I hope you all have a great weekend ahead!

Favorite Tailgating Recipes

Honey & Coconut Granola


What You Need
1 cup raw almonds
1 cup raw cashews
1/4 cup raw pumpkin seeds, shelled
1/4 cup raw sunflower seeds, shelled
1/2 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup raw honey
1 TSP vanilla extract
1 TSP sea salt

Directions
1. Place almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, and coconut flakes into a food processor. Pulse a few times until the slightly nuts break down. Don't over process!
2. Preheat the oven to 275°. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. In a medium sized pot, melt the coconut oil, honey, and vanilla extract over medium heat.
4. Once melted, add in the nut mixture and stir to make sure everything is coated. 
5. Evenly pour mixture onto the parchment lined baking sheet. Bake in oven for 20-25 minutes. 
6. Once cooked, remove from oven and sprinkle with sea salt. Let sit for 20-30 minutes so the granola can form into chunks. 
7. Once cooled, break up into small chunks and store in airtight container. Enjoy!

Music Midtown Weekend!

I think I was just super eager for Music Midtown this weekend! Today, my sister and some of her friends are coming in town to kick off this fun filled weekend. Wish List Wednesday: Music Midtown

Instagram Round-Up

Hello friends!! I haven't done an Instagram round-up in a really long time, so I thought I would give y'all a little update! Sparknotes version: my time is mostly consumed with drinking and eating, with occasional exercise.

Bon Glaze Donut: For National Donut Day, I celebrated by trying out Bon Glaze for the first time. And they did not disappoint! I got the bacon and caramel donut (pictured) and my sister got the green tea donut. They were equally so amazing! If you haven't tried them out, you definitely need to!

King Of Pops Portals: I bought Anna and I a Scoutmob for King of Pops cocktail tasting and class down at their Ponce City Market bar. It was a really good deal and a great time! You got to try two half-sized cocktails and then you got one full cocktail with a pop at the end. They also taught you a lot about the company and how they make their pops and cocktails. Scoutmob isn't currently offering it anymore, but if they ever bring it back you should definitely purchase one!

Skyline Park: Another PCM adventure, Skyline Park. What a fun concept they have created! Skyline Park is located on top of Ponce City Market and is basically a mini Coney Island. They have games, rides, drinks, and food all overlooking the beauty city of Atlanta. It is a little pricey to get up there and to play and ride, but it is definitely worth it at least once! Soon they will be opening a beer garden up there as well. I can't wait to check that out!

Yoga In The Park: A loved Summer activity for me is King of Pops yoga. They have it at Old Fourth Ward Park (but they just recently moved locations) and it provides a pretty good view of the skyline. It is a very relaxed yoga class, which I love because this is really the only time I ever practice yoga. The teacher is also amazing! If you want something to do on a Tuesday night, this is a great option!

Me w/ Anna In Background: This was the day my Mom and I helped move Anna into Athens, Georgia. It was a long day (moving her from Statesboro to Athens) and we still didn't get everything set up, but made some great memories in the process. She started at UGA this Fall and is already in love!

Anna & I: Anna had never been to Sweetwater Brewing (my 2nd favorite brewery in Atlanta), so some friends and I showed her the ropes. It was a crowded & hot Saturday, but it was a blast!

Biscuits: I went and tried Callie's Hot Little Biscuits one morning over in Virginia Highlands. I wish I was eating this right now, because it was so delicious! We got the fried chicken biscuit and the sausage, egg, and pimento cheese biscuit. The fried chicken was definitely the best! They are on Scoutmob right now for 50% off!! 

North Georgia Mountains: Early one morning, I went up and hiked Amicalola Falls with one of my friends. It was great being up there early because the heat didn't set in until later. It didn't take that long to do the hike and we even stopped at the lodge at the top for some water and the amazing view. 

Sandwich & Beer: I went to the Grant Park Summer Shade festival a few weeks ago, which was pretty fun! It was hot, but there was a decent amount of shade. We walked around to check out all the vendors (there were a ton) and then got lunch. I got a BBQ grilled cheese and it was to die for. We enjoyed our lunch while listening to live music and people watching! 

Thai Chicken Wings

serves 4-6

What You Need
2 lbs chicken wings
Salt & pepper, to taste
1/2 - 1 TBS chili powder
2 TSP curry powder
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
8 dates, softened
1/2 inch fresh ginger, minced
1/4 cup coconut aminos (or soy sauce)
1 TSP fish sauce
1 TBS sesame oil

Toppings
Sesame seeds
Ranch dressing, for dipping

Directions
1. Preheat the oven to 425°. Place a wire rack on a rimmed baking sheet. Season chicken wings with salt and pepper and place on rack. Cook for 25-30 minutes or until no longer pink.
2. If your dates aren't soft, place them in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes and then drain. Place all ingredients from the chili powder to the sesame oil into a food processor and blend until smooth. Pour into a large bowl and set aside.
3. Once chicken has cooked, let cool for 5 minutes. Then add them to the bowl with the sauce and toss. Before serving, sprinkle wings with sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Thank Goodness It's Friday!

Just look at that...we are already to Friday! What a good week this was for me! I won two things and there were only four work days. Double score! But now, I'm so ready for a low key weekend filled with friends, family, and checking things off my never ending to-do list. Do y'all have any fun plans for the weekend?
