Where To Celebrate Fat Tuesday In Atlanta

It's time to break out the beads, masks, and good times in honor of Fat Tuesday! If you're still looking for a way to celebrate, look no further. Below, i've rounded up some of the best Fat Tuesday celebrations in Atlanta. 

The Nook at Piedmont Park will have authentic 'Nawlins style dishes and Mardi Gras inspired cocktails for under $5.

Head to Atkins Park for beads, beer, gumbo, king cake, po'boys, jambalaya, and Restoration Pale Ale.

If you're looking for something a little fancier, head over to the W Midtown for a big Fat Tuesday party. Tickets are $10 and come with king cake, entrance to the party, and a live band. They will also have $8 hurricanes, $5 Abita beer specials, and a Nola themed drink menu.

World of Beer is offering up $12 Abita flights plus a slice of king cake, $3 Abita drafts, and $3 shots of Jim Bean to celebrate Fat Tuesday.

Dive Bar will have live music on their patio, as well as Mardi Gras party lighting to celebrate Fat Tuesday the right way. They will be offering $4 wells all night, $4 hurricanes, and $15 hurricane yards.

Almond Butter & Banana Muffins

 Makes 12-15

What You Need

2 large bananas
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup greek yogurt, plain
1 egg
1/4 cup almond milk
2 TSP vanilla extract
3/4 cup almond butter
1 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
2 TSP cinnamon
1 TSP baking powder
1 TSP baking soda
1/4 TSP salt
1/4 cup chia seeds


1. Preheat the oven to 375°
2. In a medium to large sized bowl, mash the bananas up with a fork.
3. Next, add in the honey, maple syrup, greek yogurt, egg, almond milk, vanilla extract, and almond butter. Whisk together until smooth.
4. In a small bowl, combine the flour, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and chia seeds.
5. In sections, pour the dry mixture into the wet, stirring in-between each addition. Mix until everything is combined.
6. Line or grease a muffin pan and then fill muffin cups up about 3/4 the way.
7. Cook muffins in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until a tooth pick inserted into the middle comes out clean. Enjoy!

San Diego Bound!

It's Friday, it's Friday! What a crazy work week it's been for me. I drove up to Nashville yesterday for appointments and this morning i'm headed off to San Diego for work (plus a few days of play of course). I've never been to San Diego before, so i'm super excited to explore the city. So far, we're thinking of exploring the gas lamp district, eating in Little Italy, finding a nice hike, exploring around Coronado Island and La Jolla. Cranberry, Gorgonzola, and Thyme Flat Bread

Serves 1

What You Need
1 flat bread or Naan bread
3/4 cup fresh cranberries
1 1/2 TBS maple syrup
Salt, to taste
1/2 TSP fresh thyme + additional for topping
1/2 TBS red onion, minced
Mozzarella, crumbled
Gorgonzola, crumbled
3 TBS balsamic vinegar 
Pecans, crumbled

1. Preheat the oven to 350°
2. In a small pan (that is oven safe), combine the cranberries, maple syrup, salt, thyme, and red onion.
3. Cook in the oven for 15 minutes, stirring halfway through. Once cranberries are soft, remove from oven (keep oven on) and set aside.
4. Place your bread on a baking sheet or pizza stone. Evenly spread the cranberry sauce over the bread.
5. Top with spinach, mozzarella, and gorgonzola and place in the oven for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted. 
6. While flat bread is cooking, place balsamic vinegar in a small pan on the stove over medium heat. Cook until boiling and then turn down to low. Remove when it has thickened up to a nice glaze. Be careful, it can get too thick really fast!
7. Once flat bread is cooked, remove from oven and sprinkle with pecans and fresh thyme. Drizzle with glaze and then serve!

Weekend Ahead!

Happy weekend friends! This has been a pretty blah week for me. I think i'm still feeling the terrible after effects of the Super Bowl loss. BUT i'm ready to amp up the happiness this weekend with some fun! Today, i'm headed up to Athens for a fun (& much needed) lunch date with my sister. Then, i'll be headed to Oysterfest at Park Tavern on Saturday for a day filled with oysters, drinks, and good tunes. There are still tickets available, so be sure to grab your's before they sell out! Twice Baked Fajita Sweet Potatoes

serves 2-4

What You Need
2 large sweet potatoes
Olive oil
1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
1/4 sweet onion, thinly sliced
1 chicken breast, about 9 oz, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves
1/2 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/4 - 1/2 cup beans, depending on your preference
1/2 TSP cumin
1 TSP paprika
Juice of 1 lime
Salt and pepper to taste

Lime wedges
Crushed red pepper flakes
Avocado slices

1. Preheat the oven to 400° and wash sweet potatoes. Poke them 4-5 times with a fork and then place on rimmed baking sheet. Cook in oven for 40 minutes or until soft.
2. While sweet potatoes are cooking, heat olive oil in a medium/large skillet over medium heat. Once warm, add in the onion and cook until translucent.
3. Next add in the chicken, garlic, and peppers and cook for 2-3 minutes and then add in the spices. 
4. Cook everything until the chicken is cooked through and then stir in the beans. Set aside.
5. Once the sweet potatoes are done, remove from the oven and let cool for about 5 minutes. Then, slice them in half and scoop out the insides, leaving a little cushion around the skin.
6. Place scooped out sweet potato into a medium sized bowl. Add in the chicken veggie mix and stir everything together until fully combined.
7. Next, stir in the lime juice and then scoop mixture back into the skins and place back on the rimmed baking sheet. Cook everything in the preheated oven for about 5-10 minutes or until everything is heated back up. If you want to top with cheese, this is a good time to do it so that it melts. 
8. Top sweet potatoes with desired toppings and enjoy!!

Super Bowl Weekend

It's Friday and it's Super Bowl weekend! What a great combination! After the busy week i've had, i'm thrilled to just relax with friends and family all weekend long. I'm even more excited for this Sunday when I get to cheer on my hometown team (#riseup), watch some great ads, and eat lots of appetizers.  What a time to be alive!
